It's official: On August 18, 2022, we proudly announced a USD $15 million extension of our "Series A" round, totaling USD $60 million in investment received since October 2021! With this, we achieved a 50% increase in our valuation since we started this journey 9 months ago.

Thanks to this capital injection, we will continue expanding our Pomelo presence in Latin America and have officially launched in Colombia and Peru, two nations that join Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico to create the best financial infrastructure in the region, allowing any company to launch its financial products.

Who invested in this Series A extension

We received this capital contribution from international venture capital funds that had previously invested in us, including: monashees, Index, Insight, Alter Global, Box Group, Clocktower, Latitud, SciFi, and Zinal. Also joining are 9Yards and Section 32 of Bill Maris, former founder and CEO of Google Ventures, as our new investors. What an honor!

Now, we leave it to our CEO & Co-Founder Gastón Irigoyen to share his thoughts on this big news:

"We are very pleased to have secured this investment from globally recognized funds, reaching a total of $60 million dollars just 18 months after the company was founded. It is a source of pride as entrepreneurs and also a great validation that ideas incubated in adversity can be transformational."

Why is this contribution so important?

As you know, at Pomelo we aim to break down the barriers of traditional financial services and make them more accessible to everyone. In a continent with high inflation rates and more than 300 million people who still lack access to digital financial services, enabling any company to become fintech is no small feat!

We work with agriculture, cryptocurrencies, retail, and payment solutions - among thousands of other examples - and provide them with quick access to cards and digital accounts, with everything ready to launch them! To this end, we have built a solution based on all Latam regulatory licenses so that it can expand without hindrances or complications throughout the region.

Thanks to this investment round, we have launched our technology in Colombia and Peru, and we will work on expanding our existing products in Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico, getting ever closer to having a presence throughout the region! This way, we can offer our clients the ability to reach up to 450 million users (all the inhabitants of the countries where we have a presence!) and compete for 80% of the Total Payment Volume (TPV) that exists in Latin America. Great startups and companies in the region, like Agrotoken, Rappi, Bitso, Ripio, Capim, ElloU, Flink, Kapital, and PayJoy, already choose us for this reason.
