Our Cards solution continues to evolve, improving the user experience for our clients. In April, we had a big announcement to help every client scale their business with cards much more practically: we completed the full migration of the card portfolio from another issuer and processor to our solution!

We explain what card migration is and the importance of this process, which avoids disruptions such as BIN changes and the sending of new cards to users.

What is the portfolio migration done by Pomelo

In April, we carried out the first complete migration of the card portfolio from another issuer and processor to Pomelo's solution. This innovation was implemented with the Peruvian fintech Máximo, which was able to scale its services thanks to our issuing and processing technology.

With the possibility of portfolio migration, clients can now officially migrate all their existing cards to Pomelo without causing disruptions like having to request a new BIN and physical cards, for example. This means the client transparently maintains their current cards, enhances their value proposition with our complete technological infrastructure, and does not disrupt the user experience.

One of the highlighted advantages for clients migrating their cards to Pomelo is that they join a flexible, customizable joint issuing and processing solution that offers the potential for rapid regional expansion to scale their business.

How our migration case with Máximo occurred

According to our Integration Engineering Manager, Lautaro Alvarez, in the case of migrating the Máximo cards to Pomelo, we moved a large base of cards and users to our issuance and processing solution. It happened as follows:

  • We teamed up with the Máximo card brand for the project;
  • To avoid affecting the user experience of Máximo during the migration, we worked jointly and in sync with the client, the brand, and the previous processor;
  • From one day to the next, the Máximo card transactions were routed to the Pomelo solution, which also began managing the issuance of the client's new cards.

As explained by our Head of Product for the Andean region, Fiorella Lezama, the process of fully migrating the Máximo portfolio to our Cards solution is a clear example of how we can drive the growth of a fintech with our current innovation and technology proposal.

Let's go all in to scale clients' financial services in Latam! For this, don't miss all the other important April updates from our Product teams.
